"You the new guy?" a semi tall guy walks over to Danny who got out.

"So they tell me..." he immediately puts his hands in his pockets.

"C'mon. I'm supposed to give you the tour. I'm Harry"

They head out of the office.

"So….. where are you from?" Harry asks leading him through the hall.

"Bolton, actually.."

"I was kidding! People actually live
there?.." Harry giggled abit and continued his moves.

"Yeah. A couple. We're outnumbered by the cows, though.." he smirks.

"How many people were in your old school?" he asks again this time more exited.

"Thirty-two." Danny said yawning nd keep following behind

"Get out!" Harry shouts laughing giving Danny a slight slap on the back.

"How many people go here?" Danny manage to ask in between.

"Couple thousand. Most of them evil"

Prom posters on the wall. Harry steers Danny through the crowd as he points to various people.

"We've got your basic beautiful people. Unless they talk to you first, don't bother…" he points to a group over the cafeteria.

The beautiful people pass, in full splendor.

"Those 're your cowboys." He points to some guys.

eight guys wearing a big belt buckle. A hugh hat and brown boots walk by.

"That I'm used to." He said and smiled

"Yeah, but these guys have never seen a Horse or a cow!. They just jack off to Clint Eastwood…" he said as Danny giggled.

They pass an espresso cart with a group of teens huddled around it.

"To the right, we have the Coffee Kids. Very edgy. Don't make any sudden movements around them..."

"wow.." Danny said observing.

"And these delusional are the White Rastae."

Several white boys in dreadlocks and Jamaican knit berets lounge on the grass. A cloud of pot smoke hovers above them

"Big Marley fans. Think they're black. Semi-political, but mostly, they watch a lot of Wild Kingdom, if you know what I mean."

Harry waves to John, the one with the longest dreads.

"John! - save some for after lunch, yeah?" he waves.

"HARRY!, my brother, peace" John smiling putting he's Peace sign on.

Danny turns to follow Michael as they walk into the Cafeteria.

He stops listening as Abbey walks by. Pure and perfect, she passes him and Harry without a look.

Danny is smitten

"That girl …I…"

"That girl …I…" he starts but cut off from Harry

"You burn, you pine, you perish?"

"Who is she?" Danny asks looking to her back.

"Abbey Stratford. Sophomore. Don't even think about it.." he nodes in refuse.

"Why not?" Danny asks with a disappointment face.

"I could start with your straight hair, but it doesn't matter. She's not allowed to date until her older sister does. And that's an impossibility…" he said pretty sure of himself.

ENGLISH CLASS

A room full of bored seniors doodle and scare off into space Miss. Blaise, the one-step-away-from-medication English Teacher, tries to remember what she's talking about.

"Well, then. Oh, yes. I guess that does it for our analysis of The Old Man and the Sea. Any other comments? Samantha?"

"Why didn't we just read the Hardy Boys?" she replayed closing her book.

"I'm sorry?" Miss Blaise asked getting up.

"This book is about a guy and his Fishing and snoring habit. Not exactly a crucial topic.!" She nodded to herself.

everybody roll their eyes. Its not the first time she's being the clever one in class. Its just so typical for her.

"Seriously, I'm stunned as to why we still Read about Arthur Corty. He was an abusive, alcoholic misogynist who had a lot of cats.!" She smiled.

"As opposed to a bitter self-righteous hag who has no friends?" spit Leo Dorsey, a well muscled jock with gr8 cheekbones from her class.

There was a few giggles. Sam ignores him, as usual. A practiced gesture

"That's enough, Mr. Dorsey." Miss Blaise snapped.

" I guess the school board thinks because Hemingway's male and an asshole, he's
worthy of our time" Sam turn around to look directly at Leo who stopped smiling for no reason.

" What about Colette? Charlotte Bronte? Simone de Beauvoir?" Sam turned to look at the teacher again as she fought with her pill box.

Dougie, lounging in his seat in the back row, elbows on the table.

"Mother Goose?" he calles to no one. Just for a teas of course.

The class titters. Sam wears an un-amusing expression and sighed as she open her book again.

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR'S OFFICE

Sam was sitting before Miss Perky after the incident of the class.

"Samantha Stratford. My, my. You've been terrorizing Ms. Blaise again." She smiled weakly.

"Expressing my opinion is not a terrorist action." She spet. She was right as always tho nobody seemed to care.

"Well, yes, compared to your other choices of expression this year, today's events are quite mild. By the way, Rob Rictor's gonad retrieval operation went quite well, in case you're interested." She sighed and sat comfy in her Hugh office chair.

" I still maintain that he kicked himself in the balls. I was merely a spectator." She giggled to herself and looked around the room.

"The point is Sam -- people perceive you as somewhat ..." she began her lecture again..

"Tempestuous?" Sam finished her sentence. She knew what she's gonna say. Surely was everybody said to her all the time.

"No ... I believe "heinous bitch" is the term used most often." Miss Perkey smiled a fake smiled again taping her pen on the desk.

"You might want to work on that" she add.

Sam got up from her chair with a plastic smile matching the counselor's.

" As always, thank you for your excellent guidance." She said as she exit the room.

ENGLISH CLASS

Abbey ignores the droning teacher as she writes a note in BIG flowing handwriting.

"I realize the language of Mr. Shakespeare makes him a bit daunting, but I'm sure you're all doing your best." The teacher announced.

Abbey folds the note and passes it behind her with a flip of her hair to Emma. She opens the note and reads:

"LEO DORSEY SAID HI TO ME IN THE HALL! OH! MY GOD!"

Emma frowns to herself.

"Ms. Stratford, do you care to comment on what you've read so far?" the teacher stand behind her not making a way out.

Abbey looks up and smiles the smile of Daddy's little girl.

"Not really." She smiled and opened her notebook

The teacher shakes her head, but lets it go….she never got caught not even once!

SCHOOL COURTYARD

Sam and Jenny sat outside on the path eating lunch. "what do u have today then?" Jenny asks looking in her bag. "Nahh…some sandwich and a few cookies. My dad baked them. U can have them. ALL!" she said handing her the food. "woop thank you.." Jenny said as she shuffled 2 chocolate cookies in her gob.

"Who's that?" Jenny asked in between swallowing. Sam was just following her gaze as her attention caught by Dougie as he walks by with his friends, lighting up a cigarette.

"Dougie Poynter… Random skid."

"That's Doug Poynter? The one who was gone for a year? I heard he was doing porn movies." She nodded as she took another bite of her sandwich.

"I'm sure he's completely incapable of doing anything that interesting." She giggled grabbing an apple from her handbag.

"He always look so…" Jenny started but was interrupted by Sam.

"Block E?" Sam looked at her with her eyebrow raised up.

"Jenny!, eat. Starving yourself is a very slow way to die." She said in sarcasm as she handed her another cookie.

"hey look. its u'r Im-So-Diva sister.."

Jenny's attention is struck by Abbey across the courtyard As she and Emma parade by Joey and his gang as One of the guys called Dean elbows Leo.

"Virgin alert." Dean whispered in Leo's ear.

he looks up and smiles at Abbey.

"Lookin' good, ladies." He says as her and Emma walked by.

Abbey smiles her coyest of smiles.

"Tragic." Sam said as she get's up.

ANOTHER ANGLE

Michel and Danny observe Leo's leers at Abbey from their bench in another corner. Cowboys eating cue of a can of beans linger on the grass behind them.

'Why do girls like that always like guys like that?" Danny asked feeling sorry for himself.

"Because they're bred to. Their mothers liked guys like that, and their grandmothers before them. Their gene pool is rarely diluted." Michel says as hey patted Danny's back again.



"He always have that shit-eating grin?" Danny asked confused and looked at Leo's reaction.

" Leo Dorsey? Perma-shit-grin. I wish I could say he's a moron, but he's number 12 in the class. And a model! Mostly regional stuff, but he's rumored to have a big tube sock ad coming out."

The Bell rings, and the cowboys stand and spit into their empty bean cans. Danny and Michel rise as Danny tries to catch a glimpse of Abbey as she walks back inside.

"You know French?" Michel asks as they're inside the hall again.

"Sure do ... my Mom's from Canada" he replayed kinda proud.

"Guess who just signed up for a tutor?" Michel winked at him nd sent him a weak smile elbowing him.

"You mean I'd get a chance to talk to her?" Danny's eye's grow wide as he predicted what will happened.

"You could consecrate with her, my friend." He agreed.

Danny watches as Abbey flounces back into the building.

Sam's Pov

"i miss you i miss you.............." Jenny seng her lungs out. "ok stop...! plzzz?" i smiled playfully as she hit me in the arm "you meany!" she laughed as we walked through the path to the school parking lot.
we walked toward my mini cooperas we spotted Leo who pulled up
beside us in his Viper. "give me a brake!" Jenny yelled and walked to the passenger seat. "The vintage look is over, Sami. Haven't you been reading your Magazine's? " he laughs obviously talking bout my dress.
"Yeah, and I noticed the only part of you featured in your big Kmart spread was your elbow. Tough break." i was getting him back once more. He was smart. But i was obviously smarter. "They're running the rest of me next month." He spet as he drives off leaving us in our spot.
"The people at this school are so incredibly foul." I muttered opening the car and entering."You could always go with me. I'm sure William had some friends." Jenny smiled and got into the car aswell. well im pretty sure William had gr8 life and much more interesting then mine...actually..that's a fact.

Abbey's Pov

"Need a ride, ladies?" Leo asked as me and Emma walked to Sam's car due to the fact she's my ride home. well its not like i have any chocie right? i can't drive and i definetly can't take rides from strangers! but...come on...Leo's not a stranger.

Back To Sam's Pov

i noticed as Jenny lowered her sunglasses to watch .
"That's a charming new development" she said putting her scarf on her neck. i didnt answer just reached over and put a tape in the
tape deck. The sounds of Blink 182 fill the car. "now u can sing properly" i giggled getting a full volium. i started to pull off since Abbey didnt show up. just then this kid crossed the road with he's moped. I had to slam the brakes to keep from hitting him! the stupid prick! he should know better! damnit. "Remove head from sphincter! Then pedal!" i yelled at him getting my head out of the window so he could hear me. "its this Harry dude..yanno.." Jenny raised abit in her seat to get a good hard look.
"oh yeah...." i noticed his spikey hear and awfuly random clothes. "his crazy right?" I snapped as i watched him trying to get up and padel.

Harry's Pov

"ohh bullocks.." i muttered as i saw the too girls getting more and more pissed. god damnit i cant make this thing work! i then saw Danny rushing over thoward me. "You all right mate?" he asked looking at me as i tried to catch my breath. "Yeah, just a minor encounter with the shrew." I removed the sweat from my forhead. "That's her? Abbey's sister?" Danny asks looking firmly at Sam. duh! "The mewling, rampalian wretch herself.yes!." i said looking at her and shocking my head. I puttered off, leaving Danny dodging Dougie's grimy, grey Jeep -- a vehicle several years and many paint jobs away from its former glory as a regulation mail truck-as he sideswipes several cars on his way out of the lot.
